What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on?

My favorite project I have worked on with LS Black Constructors was the University of Minnesota (Duluth Campus) Sports and Health Center Pool Renovation. This project included an extensive removal and replacement of pool area finishes in addition to a complete overhaul of their existing pool equipment system. The original 1950’s construction of the pool and adjacent mechanical spaces proved challenging during the demolition phase so additional coordination was required to prepare for new finishes and to tie into existing MEP systems. We were fortunate to have worked with a great team that included very specialized and knowledgeable trade partners! Since completion, both University of Minnesota Duluth faculty and students have shared with us how they are thoroughly enjoying the use of the modernized space and are benefiting from the newly installed “Wave Current System” which allows for kayaking practices in their pool!

How did you get started in the construction industry?

I was pursuing Event Project Management when a friend recommended I apply for a Project Coordinator position with a General Contractor. I loved it so much I took night classes at Dunwoody to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. I’ve had a great time building my career ever since.

How are you celebrating Women in Construction Week?

My favorite way to celebrate during Women in Construction Week is to participate in local WIC networking events with past women mentors and colleagues. It is so fun and rewarding to share our experiences with one another, and to discuss how business in the Construction Industry is progressing!
