This year we’re thrilled to celebrate Women in Construction Week by showcasing the talented women who make up our organization and industry. Meet Alexus Jackson, Project Engineer at RJM Construction!

Years in the industry?

5

What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on?

My favorite project that I have worked on so far is The Duffey which is a multi-use apartment complex in the North Loop. The reason this is my favorite project currently is because I am working in close proximity to the area and am able to see just how successful and busy the apartment complex is turning out to be and how many people get to enjoy the amenity spaces such as
the coffee bar. It will never get old walking in and saying, “I put blood, sweat, and tears into helping construct this building!”

How did you get started in the construction industry?

From a very young age I was always interested in designing anything and everything. I thought I wanted to be an interior designer, then an architect, and finally landed on construction management and have stuck to it ever since. I chose CM due to wanting to be in the field and overseeing the project.

Why is it important to celebrate women in construction?

I believe it is crucial to show the younger generation that a career in construction is possible and is a great career to get into! How hard can it be? Boys do it.

How are you celebrating WIC week?

I am celebrating WIC week with RJM Construction with a walk-through of my job site and lunch afterward with co-workers.
