Mental Health Awareness with MSA

Although there has been significant progress in suicide prevention over the last two decades, suicide rates among the U.S. working-age population have increased approximately 33% during that time. In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control announced that the construction industry has the second highest rate of suicide among all major occupations, second only to mining and extraction. Industry efforts to create awareness have been positive, but many contractors are challenged with turning their awareness into action. This session will provide insight to current statistics, trends, and best practices for creating mentally healthy workplaces, supporting workers in crisis, and leading through a suicide in the workplace.
